Earlier this year, Grayhill released the second generation of their 3K Keypads and 3J Joysticks. Both of these CAN-bus components have been re-engineered to allow installation without tools. They simply snap in to control panels!
Primarily targeting ISO 13849 safety-rated vehicles their feature set offers advantages to numerous industrial applications as well:
- Shock resistance
- Long mechanical life
- Built-in diagnostics
- Low-current sleep mode (<1.5 mA)
Both devices can be customized with different backlight and indicator colors. And the indicators are located on ridges for the widest viewing angles.
The recent growth in wireless communications is staggering and, as a result, there are innumerable users of the radio frequency (RF) spectrum. To prevent interference between users, the United States has defined regulations for the transmission of radio waves in various frequency bands. Some frequency bands are reserved for public and government uses. Others are licensed to operators of communications services, like broadcast TV and cell phones. And other bands are unregulated and available for public use.
If your vocation or avocation has you working or playing in the radio frequency spectrum, keeping track of the various frequency allocations is critical. There are thirty different types of radio services and the allocations are often changing as new technologies are developed.
Quell Corporation has developed a chart of the United States’ frequency allocation to map the uses of all of the US frequency bands and their users. The chart covers frequencies from 0Hz to 300GHz.
One of TDK Lambda‘s newest offerings is the 2″ x 4″ CUS150M family of AC/DC power supplies. These supplies are rated to 150W rated power supplies and can operate to ambient temperatures of up to 85°C without requiring forced-air cooling.
The CUS150M is certified to meet medical and ITE standards for Class I and II (no earth ground connection) operation. In addition, the series meets the FCC Class B specifications for both radiated and conducted emissions. With a universal AC (85 to 264Vac) input and wide selection of outputs from 12V to 48V, the CUS150M operates offer operating efficiencies of up to 91%. Power consumption without a load is under 0.5W.
The CUS150M targets a variety of applications including industrial, broadcast, test and measurement, dental, home health care and both B and BF-rated medical equipment. This series is certified to IEC/EN/ES/CSA 60601-1 and IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1. Both Class I and Class II versions are compliant to EN 55011-B and EN 55032-B (radiated and conducted) and meet the EN 61000-3-2 harmonics, IEC 60601-1-2 Edition 4 and IEC 61000-4 immunity standards.
Are you looking for a new approach to human-machine interface (HMI) design and implementation? Grayhill‘s new Touch Encoder may be your solution. The Touch Encoder is Grayhill’s newest innovation, allowing designers to reduce their product’s HMI footprint by consolidating multiple interfaces components, such as touch displays, keypads, buttons, trackballs, joysticks and switches, into a single device.
With a simple tablet-hosted development suite, the Touch Encoder can be programmed to support a multitude of languages, configurations and applications. Key advantages of the Touch Encoder include:
- Consolidation of multiple HMI component functionalities
- No look operation
- USB and CAN bus interfaces
- Support for many gestures, including tap, swipe, and rotation
- Sealed construction
- Impact resistant
- Support for multiple configurations
- Easy implementation of multiple languages

From the time Cover 2 Sales first opened for business in October of 2003 the question has regularly been asked: “What is Cover 2?”
The Cover 2 is a style of defense in American football. It’s a zone defense in which every defender is responsible to cover a specific area of the field. It’s typically used in pass defense situations. Two safeties play well back from the line of scrimmage. They divide the field in two, with each safety covering half. Hence, the “cover 2”. The remaining defenders provide coverage underneath the safeties, with the cornerbacks handling the sidelines and linebackers covering the middle. Defensive linemen (those that are not rushing the passer) can drop into shallow coverage to defend against short passes. While there are numerous variations of the Cover 2, in its’ purest sense the Cover 2 is a zone defense, with each player responsible for a specific territory.
When play begins, each player keeps his eyes on the ball and stays aware of what is happening in his territory. When an opportunity comes his way, the player reacts quickly and confidently to produce the desired results for his team. The Cover 2 works best when it’s staffed with high-energy personnel that have a firm understanding of their territory, can identify opportunities coming their way and can close quickly and confidently. When properly executed the Cover 2 is unbeatable.
Cover 2 Sales brings the same philosophy to sales. Staffed with ambitious, experienced, technical sales representatives, Cover 2 Sales offers the Chesapeake region unparalleled coverage. Cover 2 Sales truly is the unbeatable manufacturers’ representation option!
